Privacy Policy

Protecting your personal data matters to me. This policy describes what data is processed when you visit this website. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (DSG).

Controller

Server log data

When this website is accessed, the web server technically records data necessary for operation: IP address, date and time of access, page accessed, amount of data transmitted, browser type and operating system, and the previously visited page. This data is used exclusively for secure operation and troubleshooting, is not combined with other data sources, and is deleted after 30 days at the latest.

Hosting

The website is operated in a data center within the European Union. The log data is therefore processed in a country for which the Federal Council has determined an adequate level of data protection.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, the information you enter (name, company, email address, phone number, message) is used to process your inquiry. Providing your company and phone number is optional.

This data is processed exclusively to respond to your inquiry and, where applicable, to initiate a contractual relationship; it is not used for advertising or sold to third parties. It is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for this purpose, and after twelve months at the latest, unless legal retention obligations require otherwise.

Delivery service provider

To deliver form messages by email, I use the Mailgun service (Sinch Sweden AB / Mailgun Technologies). The information entered in the form is transmitted to this provider for the purpose of sending email and may be processed in data centers within the EU. The provider processes the data as a processor acting on my instructions.

Anonymous visit counter

To see how often this website is actually visited by people, I count page views with a very simple, self-hosted solution. No cookies are set, nothing is stored on your device, and no third parties are involved.

The only things recorded are: the time of the visit, the page requested without any parameters, the host name of the previously visited website (for example "google.com", not the full address), a coarse classification of the browser as desktop, mobile or bot, and a short checksum that makes repeat views within the same day recognisable.

That checksum is calculated from the IP address and the browser identifier together with a random secret value which is regenerated every day; the previous day's value is discarded. The IP address itself is not stored, and the checksum can no longer be traced back to a person or an IP address afterwards. There is no recognition beyond the same day, no profiling, and no combination with other data.

Cookies, analytics and tracking

This website does not set cookies, does not embed external fonts, maps or scripts, and does not use third-party analytics, advertising or tracking services. Apart from the anonymous visit counter described above, your behaviour is not evaluated and no profile is created.

Data security

Transmission is encrypted via HTTPS. I take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the processed data against unauthorized access, loss and misuse.

Your rights

Under applicable data protection law, you have the right to:

• request information about the data processed about you
• have inaccurate data corrected
• request the deletion of your data
• object to the processing
• request your data in a common format

An informal email to info@ricooess.ch is sufficient. You also have the right to legal recourse and to lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

Changes

This privacy policy may be updated to reflect changed legal or technical circumstances. The version published on this page at any given time is authoritative.
